Rotational Symmetry
Rotating Your Initial
Move the points to create the first letter of your first name (use block style letters only... not diagonal lines or curves).
Explore rotating the your initial about the origin at point C.
Move point C to at least 2 other places and explore the rotation when point C is NOT at the origin.
Think about how you can find out how to rotate a figure with point C is NOT at the origin.
Exloring Rotations
Explore each type of rotation by checking the boxes.
Turn on all of the points.
Move the center to point (2, 2). Observe how the rotations change.
Explore moving the center to other points and how that change affects the rotations.
Think about how a -90 degree rotation and a 270 degree rotation are related.
Use your paint for web tool to create a coordinate plane where the point of rotation is the origin.
Use paper to trace the pre-image, the point of rotation, and the x and y axis of your coordinate plane.
Poke a hole through your point of rotation on your paper.
Place your paper so that it aligns with image on your computer. Place your pencil through the point of rotation and TURN (ROTATE) your paper according to the type of rotation. Move your points on the image to mark the rotated image.
