GeoGebra Community Tasks

Basic Tasks The following tasks are taken care of by every GeoGebra Institute and Network.

Basic Tasks for Institutes

Support local Community The main task of a GeoGebra Institute is to take care of the local community. The GeoGebra Institute should be the first point of contact for local questions. GeoGebra Institutes will also help the GeoGebra team to handle international requests. For example, if the GeoGebra team gets a request for a teacher workshop in a specific region, they will forward this request to a local GeoGebra Institute. The Institute has to take care of this request. Review Community Roles (coming soon) To make sure that public GeoGebra resources have a high quality, not everyone will be able to publish resources in the future. Institutes will help the GeoGebra team to do a quality check before people are allowed to publish their work. We will soon share more details about this new process.

Basic Tasks for Networks

Support interregional Community The main task of a GeoGebra Network is to take care of the interregional community. The GeoGebra Network should be the first point of contact for local questions. GeoGebra Networks should also be in contact with local GeoGebra Institutes, so that they can benefit from each other's work or work together on some projects. Review Community Roles (coming soon) To make sure that public GeoGebra resources have a high quality, not everyone will be able to publish resources in the future. Networks will help the GeoGebra team to do a quality check before people are allowed to publish their work. We will soon share more details about this new process.

Additional Tasks

In addition to the basic tasks, each Institute and Network can choose to also do one or more of the following tasks. Also, Contributors and Ambassadors can choose the following tasks:

Resources

(Network, Institute, Ambassador, Contributor) Publishing resources is another task which can be done by Institutes. It's important that the resources have high quality so that other teachers can really benefit from them. It's also possible to create self-study courses. Those self-explanatory courses can be for teachers or students. The goal is that these courses can be worked through independently.

Translations

(Network, Institute, Ambassador, Contributor) Do you want to help with translating GeoGebra into your language? There are different parts of GeoGebra that can be translated. You may translate GeoGebra's interface, website, or tutorials. Please write to support@geogebra.org if you need access to our online translation system.

Testing

(Network, Institute, Ambassador, Contributor) GeoGebra Institute Members can help with beta testing. Test the beta version of our apps or help with testing new features. If you would like to help with beta testing, please contact us. If you find any bugs, please report them to support@geogebra.org, so we can take care of them.

Publications

(Network, Institute, Ambassador, Contributor) Another possible task is writing publications about GeoGebra. That could either be articles or proceedings.

User Experience Interviews

(Network, Institute, Ambassador, Contributor) We are looking for volunteers to learn more about how our users use GeoGebra and to get feedback on new, exciting features. If you are interested in talking with us, please fill in our form for user experience interviews.

Events

(Network, Institute, Ambassador) As a GeoGebra Institute, Network or Ambassador you can organize different events like teacher trainings, student workshops, conferences, contests etc. It doesn't matter if the event is face-to-face or online. Depending on the number of participants, you will get a different amount of points. Of course, you can also participate in other events and give talks about GeoGebra or join a roundtable discussion. If you organize an event, and you would like to advertise this event on the GeoGebra website, please send an email with all information about the event to community@geogebra.org.

Social Media

(Network, Institute, Ambassador) Of course, we appreciate it if you promote GeoGebra on Social Media. You can have a Facebook page, a YouTube channel, a Twitter, or Instagram account to spread the word about GeoGebra. It's up to you which content you share on Social Media. You can share resources created by the community, information about upcoming events, teaching ideas and much more. Of course, you can also moderate a Facebook group and help people if they have any questions or exchange teaching ideas. The more people you reach with your Social Media presence, the more points you will get.

GeoGebra News

(Network, Institute, Ambassador) 4 times a year the GeoGebra team creates a GeoGebra newsletter to share information about the newest features, great resources and events. Institutes should translate the newsletter to their language, share the newsletter on Social Media and forward it to their local community via email, WhatsApp or any other communication channel. Institutes should be in contact with other Institutes or Networks of the same language so that they can work together and not everyone has to translate the newsletter on their own. Every Institute can add information about local projects or events to their translated newsletter.
