Two paintings of Disintegrated Archeology, by Cecilio Espejo
This activity belongs to the GeoGebra book Voronoi Paintings.
To conclude, let's consider the two paintings in Figure 18, by the same artist, Cecilio Espejo Velasco, whom we thank for his collaboration.
Figure 18: Two paintings with similar contrast of positive and negative spaces
We see that the one on the left is more abstract than the one on the right, in which we can easily identify some shapes. The color palette also does not match entirely. There are some similar elements, such as the presence of some circular shapes. But it is not these small coincidences that make us quickly notice a resemblance between both paintings, but rather the similar arrangement of focal areas, so that in both paintings, the negative space seems to serve the sole purpose of isolating just enough the different shapes that make up the positive space. When we apply our scanner to both paintings, we obtain the result shown in Figure 19. Figure 19: Two bisecting diagrams adjusted to the silhouettes
If we readjust our scanner again to contrast each of the Voronoi regions obtained with different colors, we achieve the result shown in Figure 20. Notice the similarity between these Voronoi regions and the original paintings. Figure 20: Voronoi regions of the two paintings
