Amasya - Beyazit Cami

The Beyazit mosque in Amasya dates from 1486. Here too we can find different types of stars. Follow stepwise the construction of the plan in the applet.
Here's Siro Takahashi drawing with the different shapes and layers. You can notice that the muqarnas aren't built up with clear horizontal lines that run over the whole width of the plan. This cretes a lot of isolated 'islands' in the plan.

On the next picture you can see how the stars of the plan appear in the muqarnas.
  • Below you see a half 10-pointed star as support
  • Above yoy can see a half 10-pointed star in the apex
  • On the right and the left you can see the two domes with the large twisted stalactites in it and in the middle there's the irregular 6-pointed star with an extra stalactite.
  • Around you can see the pentagons as circles of stalactites.
