Parallelogram 1

Properties

Write down three properties of a parallelogram.

Blue Quadrilateral

Move the points on the applet to make a parallelogram. Click the 'check for parallelogram' box to make sure your shape is a parallelogram.

Green Quadrilateral

Move the points on the green quadrilateral to make a new parallelogram, different than your blue parallelogram. Explain how you know that the opposite sides are parallel on your green parallelogram.

Red Parallelogram

The four interior angles are measured on the red parallelogram. Move the points around to observe how the interior angles change and how they are related to each other.

Calculate the sum of interior angles, that is

Calculate the sum of

Construct a Parallelogram

Use the polygon tool to draw a triangle. Use the midpoint tool to plot the midpoint of a side. Use the rotate tool to rotate your first triangle 180 degrees around the midpoint. Select the rotate tool then click your triangle then your midpoint. Right-click to hide your triangles, but keep the points showing. Use the points remaining and the polygon tool to draw a parallelogram. Use the style bar to colour as you choose!
