Algebra Problem

“My name is Emilie, the goal of my presentation was to create a sketch that explores a linear intersection algebra problem. More specifically, I wanted to show what happens to the price when number of gifts increases.
The basic sketch works like this:We have two equations whose independent variable is number of gifts and the dependent variable is price to wrap those gifts.as we slide along the x axis revealing more gifts we see also see money signs that are moving up along the y axis, further exaggerating what x, and y are representing. I plotted points along the non constant graph to illustrate that the line is actually a relationship that is made up of these points.I liked that one equation was just a constant price, so i could illustrate what this would look like or mean.
Mathematical practices that I used and plan to use in the future are
4) modeling with math, having visual aids especially ones that can be manipulated can really send a concept home for student; at least it always has for me. Using their knowledge of linear equations in the form of y=mx+b to create a graph that answers their problem as opposed to using a method like elimination/substitution.
7)look/make use of structure, the over exaggeration that I can create with geogebra to illustrate fundamental concepts, like the relationship between the independent and dependent variables, is extremely useful.”
