Transformations of the Sine Function

The following applet enables the user to explore transformations of the sine function. Move the sliders to transform the sine function. Start by moving the slider for A.
  • How does changing A affect the graph of the function?
  • What happens when A is negative versus when A is positive?
Now, move the slider for B.
  • How does changing B affect the graph of the function?
  • What happens when B is negative versus when B is positive?
Finally, move both sliders A and B to explore how the transformations affect the graph together. Use the blue reference graph, sin(x), for comparison. Toggle on and off the reference graph using the checkbox.
