Rose construction: A circle of radius r rolls without slipping on a (fixed) circle of radius R. At the same time, a vector v of magnitude d, originating at the center of the first circle, rotates with it. The locus of the component of v orthogonal to the vector connecting the radii of the circles determines a rose curve.
