Basic shapes

4-fold symmetry

In geometric patterns we see how groups of basic shapes form the tools to create 4-, 5-,6-, ... fold symmetry a diverse range of patterns. This is also the case with muqarnas. Working within 4-fold symmetry, the square is the basic shape and the prism the basic cell. From the square other shapes can be deduced, each corresponding with a 3D cell or intermediate piece. Check the checkboxes and see the corresponding cells.
