Exercise: Square Construction

Task: Construct a square by following the construction steps below.
1.Toolbar ImageSelect the Segment tool. Click twice in the Graphics View in order to create two points A and B, and a segment between them.
2.Toolbar ImageActivate the Perpendicular Line tool. Create a line b that is perpendicular to segment AB and runs through point B. Hint: Select segment AB and then point B in order to create the perpendicular line.
3. Toolbar ImageSelect the Circle with Center through Point tool and construct a circle c with center B through point A. Hint: First, select point B and then point A.
4.Toolbar ImageSelect the Intersect tool. Intersect the perpendicular line b with the circle c to get the intersection point C. Hint: Click directly on the intersection of the line and the circle.
5.Toolbar ImageConstruct a perpendicular line d to line AB that runs through point A.
6.Toolbar ImageSelect the Circle with Center through Point tool and construct a circle e with center A through point B.
7.Toolbar ImageCreate the intersection point D of the line d and circle e.
8.Toolbar ImageSelect the Polygon tool. Create the square ABCD by respectively selecting all four vertices. Hint: To close the polygon, select the first vertex again.
9.Toolbar ImageUse the Move tool in order to drag the vertices of the square and observe, how the construction adapts to your modifications.
