logs and exponential functions
The log function is shown below:
where b is any number such that b > 0, b≠ 1, and x > 0.
b represents the base
The function is read "log base b of x".
y represents the exponent.
Exponential functions are functions that are reflected below:
f (x) = ex f (x) = 2x f (x) = (1/2)x
Exponential and logarithmic functions are inverses. The inverses may be revealed by the reflection across y=x.
