GRAPHING AND INVESTIGATING INVERSE OF AN EXPONENTIAL FUNCTION

GRAPHING AND INVESTIGATING INVERSE OF AN EXPONENTIAL FUNCTION

GRAPHING AND INVESTIGATING INVERSE OF AN EXPONENTIAL FUNCTION Marven Angcon | Lady Vi Costas ǀRina Orcullo Group 1   OBJECTIVES: At the end of this lesson, the students will be able to: 1. Explain the transformations of an exponential and logarithmic function; 2. Compare exponential and logarithmic functions: and GUIDE QUESTIONS: 1. What will happen if we move the slider c? Answer: functions f and k will shift horizontally in opposite direction. 2. What will happen if we move the slider d? Answer: functions f and k will shift vertically in opposite direction. 3. What will happen if we move slider a to -1? Answer: We produce a reflection. The exponential function will be reflected in the x-axis while the logarithmic function will be reflected in the y-axis. 4. What will happen if we move slider a to 0? Answer: the graph will turn into a straight line. 5. What is the relationship of the exponential function to the logarithmic function with respect to the line k(x)=x? Answer: the two functions are symmetrical of each other with respect to the g(x)=x.   BRIEF DESCRIPTION:                 In this lesson the teacher will discuss transformation of exponential function and introduce logarithmic function as inverse of an exponential function. Students are expected to have a prior knowledge of graphing basic exponential function and inverse functions.
