Trapezoids and Kites
Properties
Show whether a quadrilateral with the vertices W(1, 4), X(1, 8), Y(−3, 9), Z(−3, 3) is a trapezoid or not. If it is, prove whether it's isosceles or not.
Find the measure of each angle in the isosceles trapezoid.
What are the measures of side CD, angle B and angle D?
Find the following measurements: BC AD AE BE BAD BCD ADC
This is a picture of the Mayan pyramid in Chichén Itzá, Mexico. People from many different fields study this structure and others like it. One of the properties that is of interest is the precision of the measurements that the structure hold. The general shape should be what is called a truncated pyramid. The definition of a truncated pyramid includes having a cross section, or side profile, that is an isosceles trapezoid in general shape (steps are allowed, in which case the corners are used for reference of general shape). Give at least two methods that could be used to determine if this is indeed a truncated pyramid.
