Triangle Midsegments

  1. Create a triangle from three line segments, us the midpoint tool Toolbar Image to add a midpoint on one of the sides, and then repeat on an opposite side.
  2. Create a line segment connecting both midpoints.
  3. Use the measure tool to measure the new line segment and the triangle side below the line segment.
  4. Move around a vertex of the triangle, what do you notice?

Does what you notice always hold? Why do you think this might be true?
