Reflections - Exploration Activity
To change the shape of the triangle, move points A (red), B (blue) and C (green) of the original figure. To move the line of reflection, move the orange points.
Question 1
Leave all boxes unchecked. Move the vertices of the preimage (red, blue and green points). Move the line of reflection. What do you notice?
Question 2
Still leaving all boxes unchecked, move the line of reflections so that: (1) The image and preimage triangles overlap. (2) One pair of corresponding vertices are at the same point. For each case, describe where the line of reflection was located in relation to the preimage, ABC.
Question 3
Check the Segment Lengths, AA', BB' and CC' boxes. What is the relationship between the line of reflection and line segment AA', BB' or CC'?
