Triangle Congruence: ASA

Construct a triangle with a 37° angle and a 73° angle connected by a side of length 4.

1. Select the SEGMENT WITH GIVEN LENGTH Toolbar Image tool, and enter a length of 4. 2. Select the LINE Toolbar Image tool. Click on point A and then somewhere above segment AB. 3. Select the ANGLE Toolbar Image tool. Click points C, A, and B to measure angle A. If the measurement is over 180°, undo and click on them in reverse order. 4. Select the MOVE Toolbar Image tool, and move point C until angle BAC has a measure of 37°. 5. Select the LINE Toolbar Image tool. Click on point B and then somewhere below segment AB. 6. Select the ANGLE Toolbar Image tool. Click points D, B, and A to measure angle B. If the measurement is over 180°, undo and click on them in reverse order. 7. Select the MOVE Toolbar Image tool, and move point D until angle DBA has a measure of 73°. 8. The place where the lines meet is the third vertex of your triangle. Use the INTERSECT Toolbar Image tool to mark it as point E. 9. Select the DISTANCE OR LENGTH Toolbar Image tool, and then click on points A and E to measure the distance between them. Do the same for points E and B. 10. Repeat this process and create another triangle with the above side lengths and angle measures.
