Billiard dynagraph
From point P, a red billiard ball is shot along the indicated path. Here, d is the distance of the ball from the upper boundary of the billiard table. The graphical representation uses two parallel coordinate axes - a so called dynagraph representation - in the lower graphics window.
(a) Activate the check box "graphical representation" and play the animation several times. What is displayed in the dynagraph representation? What do you notice when you compare this representation to that in the previous applet (Billiard 2)?
(b) Solve by using the dynagraph representation and explain your considerations!
• When has the distance its maximum value?
• When has the distance its minimum value?
• What is the distance after 2 seconds?
• When is the distance about 0.5 meters?
(c) How does the distance change with time? Describe as detailed as possible! How can you read this off the dynagraph representation?
