Notes - Graphs of Linear Functions - Slope - part 1
Recall that we already know that in the equation the m number represents the pattern of change. The constant add or subtract amount for how the output, the y-value, is changing.
This number is called the slope, because graphically is represented in the steepness of the line.
Lets look at a pattern like the ones we've already seen before. Consider the situation where Bill is filling up a tank of water. The tank started with 8 gallons and he is adding a half gallon of water every minute. The equation that models this is

1) When will the tank reach 18 gallons of water? 2) How much water will be in the tank after 10 minutes? 3) When will the tank reach 15 gallons of water? 4) If the tank had a maximum size of 16 gallons when would it be full?
