3. Find the prisoner

Suppose that a prisoner escaped from a prison located at Point P. (Use the "point" tool to pick a location for point P.) The police estimate that the prisoner could have run no more than 7 miles since they escaped. Where are all the possible points that the prisoner could be at this moment? Sketch the location of the collection. Explain the shape and location of the possible points.

Explain how you made your map (above) and describe where are all the places are where the prisoner could be located.

4. Buried Treasure

Some treasure is described as buried under a spot that is 30 ft from a spot marked X, and 50 feet from a spot marked O. (Use the point tool to locate Point X and Point 0, approx 60 feet apart.) 1) First, consider clue #1: Treasure is 30 ft from X. What is the collection of points that are 30 feet from X? What shape is it? Sketch it below on your "map". 2) Next, consider clue #2. Treasure is 50 ft from O. What is the collection of points that are 50 feet from O? Sketch it below on your "map". 3) Now if the treasure is 30 feet from X AND also 50 feet from O, how can it be both at the same time? What is the intersection of those 2 sets of points? Use this information to help you show where the treasure might be buried on the map below. Explain.

Explain how you drew your map (above), and describe where on the map is the place(s) where the treasure could be located.
