Renaming objects
You can rename an object in the following ways:
- To rename an object quickly, select the
Move tool and then the object. Start typing the new name on the keyboard which opens the Rename dialog and select OK when you are done.
- Open the
Settings of the object using the
Style Bar, and type the new name in the Name box of tab Basic.
- Right click on the object (MacOS: Ctrl-click, tablet: long tap), then select the
Rename option in the appearing Context Menu.

Hints
If the name you assign to an object is already used by another object, the name of this last object will be changed.
In the construction above, change the name of point B to A.
Note: Since a point A already exists, this point will be renamed to A1.
GeoGebra usually automatically resolves dependencies. This means that the name of the object is also changed in its definition.
Note: Scripting involving objects that were assigned a new name need to be changed manually.
