STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) Education is becoming increasingly important worldwide. STEAM could offer new opportunities for transdisciplinarity, connect creativity and creation with STEAM disciplines, and enable the infusion of technologies and novel pedagogies across subjects. Latin American teachers and researchers have already been working on amazing STEAM Educational inventions and practices, and the STEAM education conference in the first two days aims to offer opportunities for colleagues to showcase their work as well as to widen horizons and develop a Latin American STEAM community. The second part, 3-day summer school, aims to offer opportunities for both prospective PhD students and interested colleagues to engage in developing research on STEAM education. The STEAM Education Research summer school offer a structured view on designing and implementing STEAM-related research and offers practical elements for such research activities. The long-term aim of these meetings is to establish and develop a STEAM research community and nurture young researchers to engage with research ideas. We hope that this community enable the advancement of STEAM in South America, the possible establishment of STEAM education doctoral programmes, and connects local and international STEAM communities. The language of the event is English, Spanish and Portuguese to bridge STEAM education research communities across the world.
