Different nets of cubes

From net to cube and cube to net

Watch this animation of a net of a cube deconstructing then reconstructing.

Exploring the different nets of a cube

Use the different options to explore the different nets a cube can have and how they come together to form it. You can drag the blue point across to see a different net then you can drag the red point to see the net fold into a cube. Watch carefully how the faces of the net folds over and becomes a cube.

Now it's your turn!

After you answer the three questions below, choose at least two of the nets you saw above and use a ruler and pencil to draw it out, then fold it up to create your own cube. Feeling like you've got the hang of it? Try a few more!

Test yourself

Prisms and cubes can only have one type of net.
