Bij de projectie op een vlak kan je een evenwijdige of een centrale projectiemethode gebruiken.
De drie klassieke azimutprojecties zijn:
- Orthografische azimut projectie: evenwijdige projectie loodrecht op een plat vlak, rakend aan de aardbol
- Gnomonische azimut projectie: centrale projectie op een plat vlak, rakend aan de aardbol, met het middelpunt van de aarde als projectiecentrum
- Stereografische azimutprojectie: centrale projectie op een plat vlak, rakend aan de aardbol. Het projectiecentrum is het punt tegenover het raakpunt met de aardbol.
3 types azimuthal projection
While projecting a globe on a flat surface one can use parallel or a central projection.
The three classical azimuthal projections are:
- Orthographic azimuthal projection: parallel projection on a flat surface tangent to the globe
- Gnomonic azimuthal projection: central projection on a flat surface tangent to the globe. The centre of the projection is the centre of the globe.
- Stereografic azimuthal projection: central projection on a flat surface tangent to the globe. The centre of the projection is the point opposit to the tangent point.
