Equation of a linear function

Task

Create a linear function with sliders and visualize its parameters. Explore the construction and learn how to visualize the slope and y-intercept of a linear function with GeoGebra Graphing Calculator. Then follow the instructions below that show you, how to do the same construction steps using the Algebra View.

Instructions

1.Enter the linear function into the Input Bar. Sliders for variables a and b will be created automatically.
2.Create points and .
3.Connect the created points with a segment by using the command .
4.Create point and connect point C with point B using the command .
5.Use the command visualize the y-intercept.
6.Disable the Visibility button next to the points A, B and C to hide them.
7.Select the segment AB and deselect Show Label.
8.Select the segment of the y-intercept, choose the More button and select Settings. Change the caption of the segment to b. Repeat this for segment BC and change its caption to a.
9.Enable the Visibility button next to the sliders to show them in the Graphics View.
10.Change the color of the segments using the Style Bar to enhance your construction.
