SSA exploration: Why doesn't it work?
We have been talking a lot about triangle congruence theorems in class.
SSS
SAS
AAS
ASA
We have learned that the four congruence theorems above prove two triangles to be congruent.
We have also said that SSA does not prove triangles to be congruent; why not?
Explore with the applet and see if you can convince yourself that SSA is does NOT prove two triangles to be congruent.
When using the sliders, do the triangles have congruent corresponding SSA for all values of the slider?
Using the sliders, can you create two different triangles? Does this convince you that SSA does not prove triangle congruence?
