From Prism to Truncated Prism using Logifaces

Learning about the Methodology

Dear teacher, you might have read the Logifaces study part about learning the Logifaces methodology. As perhaps this is not sufficient to understand how the game can be useful for your lessons and perhaps you do not have a game or 3D printer at hand to create your own, we collected a few first steps for you to have you remember basics about the game and about possibilities. Watch our short videos to get acquainted with the blocks and the matching possibilites. You may also use these questions as introductory tasks for your students. In the quiz below, you can learn first steps. There is more in this resource in case you are not yet happy with playing around!

Basics - Step 1

Investigate the block using the applet above. You can click it to turn it around. How many different heights does the Logifaces blocks have? Look at exercises throughout the book and check whether all heights are represented in this block.

Select all that apply
  • A
  • B
  • C
Check my answer (3)

Basics - Step 2

Investigate the block using the applet above. You can click it to turn it around. How many different triangles can you find on the blocks? Check other exercises. Are there blocks that have more or less versions of triangles than this block?

Select all that apply
  • A
  • B
  • C

Basics - Step 4

The block is part of a game which usually has rules. What is the rule of matching the blocks in the Logifaces game? Attention: our exercises might have other rules, always check the teacher version for example results and more explanation!
