Euler's Numerical Method Calculator for First Order Differential Equations

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Adjust f(x,y) to match the differential equation from your problem / application / challenge. Remember, f(x,y) is simply the right hand side of a first order differential equation in "slope field form".
  2. Drag InitialCondition to match your problem / application / challenge.
  3. Adjust h to your desired step size.
  4. Drag the "Fill Handle" (blue box in the bottom right of a selected cell or cells) to extend the formula into more cells and calculate the desired number of steps. You may not need to do this if there are enough steps calculated by default.
  5. The estimated values of are calculated in column B. The estimate points are displayed (and plotted) from column C.
