Solving radical equations with quadratics

Solve the radical equation for .
  1. Isolate the radical expression.
  2. Raise both sides of the equation to a power to eliminate the radical, then simplify the result.
  3. Solve for by factoring, or by using the quadratic formula.
  4. Verify the solution(s).
