Equilateral triangle

Like a rhombus, an equilateral triangle has congruent sides. Locate the third vertex point on an equilateral triangle, given  as one side of the equilateral triangle. Hint: Use the work we've done this week!

Creating a circumscribed hexagon

  1. Use the segment tool to sketch a diagram of a decomposition into six congruent triangles.
  2. Based on your sketch, mark a point as the center of the circle that would circumscribe the hexagon.
  3. Use a compass to draw the circle that would circumscribe the hexagon.

Construct a regular hexagon inside of the circle. Start by using the segment tool to create a diameter then using the compass tool to create the equilateral triangles.

Challenge

Modify your work with the hexagon to construct an equilateral triangle inscribed in the given circle.
