Activity 1:POINTS, LINE SEGMENTS, MIDPOINTS

Constructing a Midline of a Triangle

In this activity, we will learn how to use the Point, Segment, and Midpoint tools of GeoGebra. You will do this by constructing a triangle and one of its midlines. The midline is the line segment connecting the midpoints of the two sides of a triangle.

Questions for Discussion

1. What if the Point tool was used to draw points D and E instead of the Midpoint tool? How will this affect the figure when you drag the other points?  2. Try dragging points D and E. What do you observe? Justify your observation. 3. Try dragging points A, B, and C. What do you observe? How do they affect points D and E?
