Construct a Perpendicular Line Through a Point on the Line

Given Construct: The line perpendicular to through point B Procedure: 1. Open your textbook to page 381. Follow the directions for construction 5. Your points will be named differently than in the textbook. Alternatively: 1. Make a circle centered at B with a radius of AB. 2. Mark both points of intersection (A is already marked. Label the other point with the intersect tool). You now have B as the midpoint of segment AC. 3. Now that you have located the midpoint, make a perpendicular bisector through segment A (as you did in construction 4). Remember:
  • Given info: red
  • Arcs utilized in construction: green
  • The final construction: blue
