Angle bisectors
Step #1:
Using the "angle" tool, create an obtuse angle.
Next, choose the "angle" tool and plot three points that create an angle greater than 90º but less than 180º. As you plot each point, hit "shift" with a capital letter to name the point. This angle should be ABC.
Last, select the line segment tool and connect the points that form the angle, line segments AB and BC.
Question #1
Using the above drawing, select the "angle bisector" tool, starting at point A, select the three points that represent your angle. Describe what happened to the picture?
Step #2:
Place a point on the angle bisector that is inside the angle. Select the "point on object" tool and select the angle bisector to place a point "D" on the bisector. As soon as you place the point, name it by hitting "shift D".
Question #2:
Choose the "angle" tool again, this time to measure one of the angles formed by the bisector. Highlight ABD, how does the measure of this angle compare to angle ABC?
Question #3:
Choose the "angle" tool again, this time to measure the other angle formed by the bisector. Highlight DBC, how does the measure of this angle compare to angle ABD?
Question #4:
Describe what an angle bisector is and what is does to an angle.
