6.3 Task - Similar Triangles
AA Similarity
- Create ray AB.
- Construct an angle with given measure of 40 degrees from point B with point A at its vertex.
- Construct ray AB'.
- Construct point C between A and B'
- Construct an angle with given measure of 60 degrees from point A with point C at its vertex.
- Construct segment CA'.
- Construct point D at the intersection of CA' and ray AB
- Use the polygon tool to construct triangle ACD.
- Measure the lengths of all three sides of triangle ACD.
- Repeat steps 1-8 to create a second triangle.
- Once you have two triangles with identical angle measures, drag point C so the side lengths are different in your two triangles.
- Insert text, or draw with the pen, that sets up the ratios of each corresponding sides to your triangles and state the decimal (ex: 1/2 = 0.5)
- If you decimals are all the same, then you are done!
