Cube-Octahedron

The edges of the cube cut through the midpoints of the edges of the octahedron. But it is too small to be inscribed in the same sphere. The cube edges should be more than 2.12 units to the octahedron's 3 units, according to Euclid XIII.18. How does one get the cube inscribed in the same sphere as the octahedron?
