(-4, 1) and (0, 2) are the points we are going to be using. (-4, 1) is (x1, y1) and (0, 2) is (x2, y2). Now taking the slope formula plug the numbers in it, (2 - 1) / (0 - (-4)), first do subtraction to both sets of parentheses and then divide. The answer resulting from calculating is 1 / 4. Now using the (rise / run), the rise is 1 and run is 4 so the slope is 1 / 4, receiving the same slope from both formulas.
