Inequality Rules
Description
You can move the two points, A and B, on the number line. The relation between A and B is shown at the top left. By checking a rule, two new points are added to the number line, and their relation is also shown.
A slider is shown that controls how the two new points are created from the original points. For example, if Rule 1 is checked the number on the slider is added to both A and B to obtain the new points.
Investigations
For each rule, compare the relation of the new points with that of the original points for different values on the slider and for different original point orders.
Which rules switch the order of the new points from the original points?
Which rules keep the relation the same?
Which rules have restrictions on the values of A and B?
