Task #7: Constructing Triangles with Given Specifications

Follow the steps below to construct triangle ABC. Toolbar Image1. Use the grid markings and the segment tool to construct a segment of length 7. (You can check the length of your segment in the menu to the left.) Toolbar Image2. Use the Angle with a Given Size tool to construct a 42 degree angle at one end of your segment. (Click the left endpoint, then the right endpoint, then type in 42 degrees and select "clockwise." Note: For some reason, this tool works best for me when I type in the degree value, then move my cursor past the degree symbol in that text box.) Toolbar Image3. Construct a line through the right endpoint of the segment and the new point that was created when you constructed the angle. Toolbar Image4. Use the Angle with a Given Size tool to construct a 73-degree angle at the opposite end of your segment. (Click the right endpoint, then the left endpoint, then type in 73 degrees and select "counterclockwise.") Toolbar Image5. Construct a line through the left endpoint of the segment and the new point that was created by step 4. Toolbar Image6. Use the intersect tool to mark the intersection of the two constructed lines, creating a triangle. Toolbar Image7. Use the Polygon tool to fill in your triangle. (Click all three vertices, then the original vertex again.) 8. Answer the question below.

If someone else followed the above instructions to construct a triangle, would their triangle necessarily be congruent to yours? Why or why not?
