Example 5
The student council at your school is planning a fundraiser to raise money for the spring fling carnival. They decide to sell donuts and determine that their income depends on the number of boxes of donuts they sell, n, according to the function I(n) = −0.05n2 + 10n. The cost to promote and run the fundraiser can be represented by the function C(n) = 4n + 150, where n also represents the number of boxes of donuts the student council sells. Determine the solution(s) to the system of equations and explain what the solution(s) reveal about the potential success or failure of the fundraiser.
