Random Function Transformation

This worksheet generates a randomly transformed function. The black curve represents the original function, f(x). The blue curve is a random transformation of f(x) that we'll call g(x). Your task to find the equation of the transformed function. The transformations may include combinations of • vertical shifts (up or down), • horizontal shifts (left or right), • vertical stretches or compressions, • horizontal stretches or compressions, and/or • reflections about the x-axis. For example, g(x) = 2f(x - 2) would represent the black curve shifted to the right 2 units and stretched vertically by a factor of 2. You can generate a new randomly transformed function by clicking on the arrow button at the top right corner.
