Force diagrams

An important application of vectors occurs in physics and engineering when several forces (, , and are acting on a single object (point D). When in equilibrium, the sum of these force vectors will be 0. In the interactive figure, drag point E to change the "weight" of point D. Drag point D to change the relative positions of the wires hanging from the "ceiling." Drag points B and C to change the positions of the anchors on the ceiling. Drag point A to change the height of the ceiling.
